News - Q2 - 2002Note: Some minor changes made to the newsletter in the port to this new web server Letter from the EditorHello to all my classmates from Lake Central High School. I'm very happy to send you our new Newsletter. I sure hope everyone enjoys it. I am asking if you would email this to your 1988 classmates, so we can have as many people on this as possible. Thanks for all your help and enjoy... Hope you have a great Summer.Your Classmate, Cindy Smack-Timmons Newsletter and Web Site DetailsThis is our first Newsletter for Lake Central's Class of 1988. There will be four a year, one for each quarter.Mike Tennyson and Cindy Smack-Timmons have two "FREE" web sites set up for the "Class of 1988." The first one is set up on "MyFamily.com" and the other one is set up on "MSN.com." You will need to send an email to the above email address to get you set up on one or both sites if interested. When emailing us please be specific to which site(s) you would like to join. Both sites are an "invite only." This requires one of us to set you up, you will receive an email from the specific site(s), you will then need to follow the instructions. If you have any problems with any one of the sites please let us know. If you have anyone's email address from our class please email it to the above address. We would like to see both of our sites grow. If you know someone from our class that doesn't have an email address and they want to be added to our list please email us. The "MyFamily.com" website is for information and communication between classmates. We currently have 50 active people on this site. Maybe you are looking for someone or someone is looking for you. This is a great site to find them or add someone new. So, check the site often. If you would like to leave a message for other classmates to read you may do so at this site. The "MSN.com" site is for pictures of when we were in Elementary, Middle and High school. There are also pictures of classmates after high school, what we look like now, our children and even pictures of people who have passed away during and/or after high school. This is a great place for you to share your pictures from school and current pictures now. This is a very fun site. Cindy has added lots of pictures on this site. 20 Year ReunionCindy is currently working on a 20 year reunion. She is also making calls to classmates for updated address and current email addresses. The 20 year reunion will be casual, lots of fun in the sun, inexpensive and if you have children they are invited too. Cindy is looking for anyone interested in giving their free time to help out in the area only. The reason she is looking for classmates in the area is because it will be very difficult to meet with the group and help with the calling. If you are out of the area and interested in giving your input she will email you with details. The more people we have the better it will be. As she knows what family life is like, if you are interested in helping out and don't have much time, she can find little things for you to help out with. Email her at the email address provided.Teacher Spotlight - Jerry Frazier (Business Education)Mr. Frazier retired from Lake Central in June 1997. He started teaching in 1961 in Midlothian, IL. He was teaching and going to college at the same time to complete his masters degree. In 1965, he taught at Hammond Tech in Hammond, IN for 11 years. Working at Hammond Tech was a great experience for him and saw lots of his students move to the Lake Central area. Students would share their lives with him and how they had nothing. He began working at Lake Central in 1975 and taught there till he retired in June of 1997. He said the greatest thing about teaching was his students and having so many different students. He is now living near Naperville, IL. He has three children and four grandchildren. All living in the same area. He says, having grandchildren is the best thing and loves them very much. The best moments from teaching are his students. Getting to know them in the short time he had them. After all he taught semester courses. To see them after high school and see what they are doing now. He says, "I always wondered how many students I had in all the years I taught." He says, "trying to count it up would be almost impossible." In the summer he works for a local golf course and says he meets lots of people. In the winter he works at a local YMCA and says he meets lots of people there too. He says he always loves meeting people. Classmate Spotlight - Mike TennysonHe was born and raised in Dyer, IN. He attended Commonwealth Business College and obtained his degree in Accounting Computer Systems. He worked part-time at Gainer Bank and later became full-time and he's been with the bank for 11 years now, which is now Bank One. He title is Personal Banker. He has been married to Tracey Drake (class of 88) since July 1992. They have two beautiful children together and now live in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The person he would most like to hear from is "through the internet I have found almost all my friends from high school. I would like to know what happened to Rick Newcomb. I ran into him in Indianapolis once and haven't seen him since. I would also like to know where Dennis Gall is and what he's been up to." His hobbies are building websites for family and friends. I have just finished designing our official Lake Central 1988 website...check it out at [note: this had a link to an older site.Ten Year Reunion ReportWe had a formal dress 10 year reunion on Saturday, September 5, 1998. We had a night before the reunion at Angelo's in Merrillville. We also had a Day After the reunion. This was held at Deep River Park in Hobart, IN.We are planning a "15 year Get Together" for next year sometime. This is currently in the works.
